An Education Movie

A very splendid performance by Carey Mulligan. I love this kind of movies, a coming-of-age story, a throwback British film making. It is all about the life of Jenny, a 16 yr. old girl, played by Mulligan, havin' her dream to take her college in Oxford University. It just became complicated when she met David, an older men, played by Peter Sarsgaard. In which David showed her all the fancy and extravagant things in life that made Jenny happy and experienced life as a woman... The story plot is simple but a pleasurable one. Something suited for our youth now... Thinking they are wiser and clever but the truth is they're still not...

Directed by Lone Scherfig with a script from Lynn Barber & British author Nick Hornby.

London, UK? Is it a dream land for Filipinos?...

Majority of us, Filipinos, prefer to work abroad to earn a greener pasture.  Some just don't mind how will it be living there or the situation will be.  They just gamble everything just to get to their dream land and believed that they hit jackpot.  Well, it is just that, we have that thinking of as "Big Time" when someone is in abroad.   Well, many Filipinos are already successful in abroad and sad to say some are not.  Like this news, I've heard of this many times and I also considered myself to apply for it, huh!  Well, I got this in a forum... Here is it...

NO TO (ISA) INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ADVISORS-UMIIYAK KAMI NG DUGO DITO SA UK DAHIL SA SCAMMERS NA AGENCY NA TO

We STRONGLY DISCOURAGE ALL student visa applicants bound for UK from processing your visa through ISA.
Herewith is an email from a Niner Reviewee suffering helplessly in UK because of ISA
meron pa silang bagong style ngayon... may pinapipirmahan sa amin na student/home agreement and commitment ang ISA. may part dito na nakasaad na "EARLY LEAVERS-- if you decide to withdraw from the programme you will be in breach of your Student Visa and will therefore be liable to return to the philippines. ISA 4U Ltd. should be informed immediately. Every effort will be made to counsel and support you in this decision.
parang magandang basahin may pa support support pero nananakot sila na madedeport pag di kami pumasok sa carehome namin. ang mapagsamantala ko namang employer gusto ipapirma sa amin ito ng hindi pa namin nababasa. nasa ikalawang page pa lang ako eh... sabi nya "it basically said that you would have the right for equal opportunities, etc etc" tapos gusto nya sumign na ako agad! no way! di ako pumirma... nklagay sa last part na this agreement is binding. this learner agreement is subject to british law and any legal action taken must be taken within the UK under the jurisdiction of the british legal system.

If you love your friends and are concerned about their welfare, please spread the word, discourage them from processing with ISA or else, be doomed in UK

NARS (Nurse's Assigned in Rural Service) Project

What the heck?!  I've been out from blogging for more than a year now!  Well, I know it's my fault.  Eventhough, I love writing as in blogging now :-), I still fashion this thing aside from photography.  It's just that, I was deployed in our hometown province to serve as a Rural Health Nurse for six months last year of April and until the last day of September...  The experience I had was one of the highlights of my nursing profession.  I am so glad, I was one of the chosen one. hehehe... Well, I've got here my intro to my journal that I passed as a completion of my work as NARS Project Trainee.

Traffic what really made me bored while I was driving along the highway of EDSA Cubao.  Then, I decided to change the station of my radio into AM frequency.  I listened to the flashed report of DZMM that was about the NARS or Nurse’s Assigned in Rural Service Project of Dept. of Labor and Employment.
As what the reporter said, with the pump priming strategies to mitigate the impact of the global financial crisis, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo launched the Nurses Assigned in Rural Service (NARS) Project on the 9th of February, 2009 during the Multi-Sectoral Summit on "Joining Hands against the Global Crisis" in Malacanang Palace, Manila.  As what the qualifications were:  With valid nurse’s license issued by the PRC; Not over 35 years old; Resident of the identified municipalities; And no nursing-related practice for the past 3 years.
On that moment, I thought of giving it a chance since I am qualified for that project and I want to gain experience as a rural nurse.  So, on that night, I applied online by visiting their site www.nars.dole.gov.ph I filled-up the designated blanks and I chose my hometown LEZO, which is a small town in the province of Aklan.
March 27, I received an electronic mail from DOLE, congratulating me for being one of the successful applicants.  I was elated on that time as I read the e-mail.  I can’t believe that I am one of them…  So, I told my parents that I will be going home in our hometown coz’ I was chosen as one of the nurse’s assigned for the NARS Project to serve my hometown as a rural health nurse.
On March 31, I arrived in Kalibo airport.  I am happy because atlas, I am back in our hometown to do my job as a community nurse and as to promote health to the people in our hometown.

Have you ever wonder how many restos are there in the Philippines… (Is it a trivia?) hehehe… Well, i’m just wondering to myself… Just last week while having my window shopping at SM Manila with my friend… I saw this resto named "Mini Shabu-Shabu".  I was intrigued by its name so, I tried to look at its menu coz it was posted outside.  As I looked at it, I definitely can say that it was a Japanese resto. So, a waiter came near us and guided us to where we’ll be seated.  So, I told him that we want to be in their bar area. Then a waitress from the bar, handed me their menu… I can see big red crabs, lobsters and shrimps… Wow, they’re all my faves.  But the prices were all too expensive… coz’ they were all priced as 1thousand pesos above… So, I asked the waitress if there were something suitable just for 2 persons… so, she pointed me to an individual shabu-shabu… and it was only for 330 pesos individually… Well, that was fine already than spending my money for a thousand pesos just for myself… I was looking around the resto when I noticed that in every table there were a boiling pots wherein the customers were likely cooking… So, when the waitress came back, I asked her if i’m going to cook my food which is I don’t know what to do… And she said that for 1st time customer, they will be the one to cook…

This entertaining dish is called shabu shabu because the ingredients are "swished swished" back and forth in a pot of boiling broth. Shabu shabu is one of Japan’s most popular dish cooked at the dinner table and very entertaining for each person actually cooks their own dinner. A wonderful and fun dish to have for dinner parties that involves all your guests.

I higly recommend this resto coz’ it is awesome… very entertaining… and delicious… At my second visit at their branch in Greenhills, I was with my Papa and Sister Faith, well, we ordered their Shabu-Shabu Specialty of the House, we spent more than 2thousand pesos… But it was the best!!! And my Papa was the one who paid the bill… hehehe…

MAHAL KONG ANAK

By Grace Balderas

Suso, mahal kong anak, suso.

Suso, mahal kong anak, suso

Walang lamig at sakit.

Suso, mahal kong anak, suso.

Walang lungkot at takot.

Suso, mahal kong anak, suso.
